The July 13 meeting of the Bent’s Fort Chapter will begin at 1 p.m. at the Grand Theatre located at 405 S. Main St. in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Featured at the meeting will be guest speaker Kellen Cutsforth, western author and columnist, who will give a presentation titled “Boozers, Brothels, and Bare-Knuckle Brawlers: The Story of Buffalo Bill’s Little Known Business Partner.”
Kellen has published numerous books on the American West including recent works titled, “Buffalo Bill, Boozers, Brothels, and Bare Knuckle Brawlers; Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Coloring Book”; and he co-authored “Old West Showdown: Two Authors Wrangle over the Truth about the Mythic Old West.” Kellen has also worked as a ghostwriter on numerous books and is currently working on two separate ghostwriting projects. He has published over 30 articles featured in such magazines as Wild West and True West and is a featured columnist for Western Writers of America’s Roundup magazine.
In addition, Kellen is an active member of the Western Writers of America (WWA) and has served as a Spur Award judge on multiple occasions and as a videographer at several WWA conventions. He is currently WWA’s Twitter account manager. Kellen is also a past president of the Denver Posse of Westerners, and was honored in 2018 with the group’s Rosenstock Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also the current co-chairman for the group’s 75th Anniversary Brand Book committee.
