The Mt. Carmel Youth Choir, sponsored by Mt. Carmel and Trinidad School District No. 1, is working hard to prepare for their annual Christmas concerts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 18 and 19 in the Mt. Carmel chapel.

The choir, co-directed by Connie Pallone, Toni Mangino and Geneva Villegas, is now in it’s fourth year of teaching local youth how to sing together.

Pallone, who taught choir for TSD1 for many years, said she is excited for this year’s concerts.

“We’ve decided this year to add another concert because of all the people who came to concerts in previous years,” said Pallone. “These kids are working really hard to put on a great show for everyone.”

The youth choir is an after school program meeting at 4 p.m. on Tuesdays at Mt. Carmel that teaches local youth how to find their voice and sing with others, learning basic musical and performance skills says Pallone. Healthy snacks are also provided for kids during their rehearsal, prepared by AmeriCorps staff.

Pallone also stated that any parents with students that would like to get involved in the chorale for their spring season starting at the beginning of next year should contact Mt. Carmel for more information and to pick up an application.
