Through 2021 the Carnegie Public Library will continue to offer its free legal help clinics to all Trinidad area residents who do not have an attorney. Attorneys conduct the clinics on the second Tuesday of every month from two to five p.m. beginning on Jan. 12. 2021. To reserve a spot for free legal assistance, contact the library at 719-846- 6841 or trinidadpubliclibrary@gmail.com. “As a COVID-19 work around, instead of clinic patrons coming in-person, the volunteer attorney will call the clinic patron’s telephone directly using the phone number provided to library staff,” said the library. Volunteer attorneys will answer questions, help fill out forms, and will explain the process and procedure for civil legal issues. The clinic is exclusively informational, attorneys do not represent patrons because of their involvement in the clinic. For more legal information, www.checkerboard.co provides access to free legal information including forms, statutes, videos, instructions and flow charts. For more information contact the Carnegie Public Library at 719-846- 6841 or trinidadpubliclibrary.com or visit their website at carnegiepubliclibrary.org.
