The Trinidad Round Up Association is canceling this year’s rodeo after 109 years of continuous rodeo activity in Las Animas County, beginning before, lasting thru and continuing after World War II.

The Trinidad Round Up Association Board of Directors made history at their June meeting when they unanimously voted to cancel this year’s 110th Trinidad Round Up Rodeo and festivities including the Labor Day Parade, rodeo dances, BBQ and Queen’s Contest due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After all the shut-downs and loss of revenue, we just cannot expect our local small businesses to sponsor this year’s event,” said board vice president Kristy Buhr-Bennett.  “Our deepest regrets to our supportive community and we hope to come back strong next year at the 111th annual Trinidad Round Up Rodeo and festivities in 2021!”
