Trinidad gets freezing snow overnight

Area residents awoke to find the ground covered with snow and freezing cold temps on Tuesday, Feb. 4. The National Weather Service reported 4 inches of the white stuff fell overnight and predicted some 3 to 5 more inches would accumulate during the day. At Noon the temperature at Perry Stokes Airport was 16 degrees. Chronicle-News reporter Garrett Watson almost had to hitch up the sled dogs to get into town and shot the photos from near Jansen on Hwy 12. Trinidad schools closed for the day due to poor driving conditions.
