For one homebuyer in Trinidad, the story has a happy ending. Dana Miller, 71, first started looking a couple of years ago while she was renting a home in town. But she found most houses too big for a single person’s needs.
“There are no real apartments, there are no condos, that’s my biggest complaint,” she said. Miller, who has a bad hip, moved in with a friend, waited a while then tackled the market again this year, looking for a home in the $150,000 to $250,000 price range.
“This happened quick, I was more specific in what I wanted. I wanted updated, I don’t want any repairs, I don’t want a fixer upper,” Miller said. She looked at three or four houses with her agent Christine Doering. “We saw this one, as soon as I walked in it was like, I fell in love.”
While tradeoffs always come with buying a home, and her new house does not have a garage, neither will she have to climb stairs to get to the bedroom. The closing is scheduled for later in August.
“This time I guess somebody was looking after me. I’m excited,” Miller said.
