PUEBLO — Sportsmen and sportswomen from across Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Southeast Region are invited to a caucus to meet new Region Manager Brett Ackerman and to hear goals set for the agency by Gov. Jared Polis.
The regional caucus is scheduled at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, at the Pueblo Community College Student Center. It will be a great chance for all hunters, anglers, trappers and outdoor enthusiasts to meet and ask questions of Ackerman, who was recently appointed by CPW Director Dan Prenzlow.
Ackerman will talk about his vision for the region as well as goals set for CPW by Polis.
The Southeast Region caucus is also a great chance to meet Willie Kalaskie and Larry McCormack, the region’s delegates to the statewide Sportsmen’s Roundtable. They carry the message of the region on important policy decisions and issues.
The caucus agenda features a variety of topics of interest to everyone, including plans by CPW to increase its sources of revenue beyond hunting and fishing license fees and park entrance fees.
CPW officials will update the public on public hunting access and talk about the big game season structure.
Most important, the Southeast Region Caucus gives all Colorado residents an opportunity to have an active voice in how CPW manages wildlife and to participate in statewide debates on CPW policies, regulations and resource management decisions.
“The caucus is a positive and inclusive group that works to give everyday sportsmen and sportswomen a voice before the statewide Sportsmen’s Roundtable and the CPW Commission,” McCormack said. “We want to hear your ideas and welcome your input as to how best we can affect positive change and protect our sport and resources.”
The caucus will convene in Ballroom C of the Student Center at 900 West Orman Ave. in Pueblo. It begins at 6 p.m. and will end by 8 p.m. An agenda will be posted on the CPW website on June 23.
Also, a CPW Spanish-language interpreter will attend the caucus to offer any needed translation services.
