DHS staff

DHS staff who made the schools supplies event happen included (L-R) Supervisor Bernice Renner, Eligibility Technicians Larkin Roy, Greg Henry and Teresa Garrison.

Area kids are back in school and the Las Animas County Department of Human Services (DHS) was able to help provide supportive services for school supplies, clothing, haircuts and other miscellaneous needs for Colorado Works Program eligible children and families.

DHS issued extra benefits for children at the Trinidad Housing Authority on Friday, August 16. The effort allowed parents and grandparents to purchase the long list of school supplies, shoes, new clothes and the many items that will help children start the school year with confidence and excitement.

This opportunity was provided to 76 children in 47 families.
