For the first time in more than ten years, the Las Animas County Fair Board will be attending the Colorado 4-H State Conference.
San Isabel Electric’s Board of Directors provided a $1,500 donation. Basin Electric Power Cooperative, the co-op’s power supplier, matched the donation with an additional $1,500.
“We just renewed this program after it went dormant for almost ten years. The funds we had were very low. This grant will do so much for us and help us continue to be successful. We head to our state conference next week and will have a team from Las Animas County for the first time in more than ten years, so we are excited. This grant helped make this possible,” Sydney Wilkinson, Las Animas County Fair Board Member, said.
The Las Animas County Livestock Sale and Buyer’s Barbecue will be held on Monday, July 1st. The Las Animas County Fair Livestock Sale showcases the hard work of 4-H and Future Farmers of America members within the county. The fair also gives the opportunity for local businesses to get involved by buying an animal, promoting their business, and giving back to the next generation.
Since the mid-1920’s, the Las Animas County Fair Livestock Sale has been teaching kids the difficult skills that come with being a livestock seller, including how to market yourself to local businesses.
To participate as a buyer, please arrive before the sale and register with the Las Animas County Fair Board Treasurer.
Since January 2019, San Isabel Electric’s Board of Directors has donated more than $40,000 to organizations that help keep communities strong and growing. To apply for a donation, go to siea.com/donations.
