ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico State Police say icy roads are believed to be a factor in a single-vehicle crash that killed a Raton man Tuesday night.
Brent James Horner, 22, died in the crash that happened around 8:30 p.m. on northbound Interstate 25 near Wagon Mound.
Based on the initial investigation, Horner was driving a sport utility vehicle on I-25 when, for reasons unknown, he “left the roadway and crashed,” according to a state police news release. Horner was ejected and fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.
State police added that “the crash is not believed to be alcohol related and seatbelts do not appear to have been properly worn.”
The crash remains under investigation.
