A load of fence post logs caused quite the mess on I-25 following a semi crash there in the Raton Pass area on Tuesday.

On Tuesday a 52-year-old Raton N.M. man was hauling fence post logs and wood fire pellets from Raton to Pueblo northbound on I-25 when he lost control of his semi near milepost 2.5, south of Trinidad and flipped the load spilling the logs on the interstate.

The driver, identified as Justin Fiorino, received just minor injuries, yet the wreck closed both lanes of I-25 for over two hours, beginning at about 10 a.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol.

According to state patrol, Fiorino was in the left lane and passing vehicles when he lost control and the load he was carrying shifted, causing him to collide with the cement divider and overturn the vehicle. The load spilled into both the north and southbound lanes.

State patrol said Fiorino was cited at the scene. They were able to re-open the interstate at 12:02 p.m., but cleanup of the large debris continued.
