Shawn Maes, a long time golf enthusiast, carded the second hole-in-one at the Trinidad Municipal Golf Course on Saturday, August 17, 2019.
Maes, playing with Course Superintendent Guido Pachelli and good buddy Javy Martinez knocked the ball into the cup on hole number five with a pitching wedge. His first ace was marked in 2017 on the lengthy number seven hole.
“It was a nice easy pitching wedge,” explained Maes. And my good pals Guido and Javy were with me to witness it. The shot won me a little bit of money, but I’m never concerned about that. I always just try to beat the course.”
Maes, employed as an Assistant Greens keeper in keeping with his training to earn a degree as a golf course professional, as most golfers who have experienced a hole-in-one, was tickled. “It is always fun to get one of those,” added Maes. “They’re pretty rare.”
