In preparation for the upcoming football season, there will be a parent and athlete meeting on Tuesday, August 6 at 6 p.m. in the Donnelly Gym at Trinidad High School for any athlete who would still like to participate in football.

If a parent or athlete is unable to attend the meeting, please call the high school at 719-846-2971 to speak with Athletic Director Ernest Bain.

The Trinidad Miner football team held camp July 15-26 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. each day. Fifteen players attended the camp. Leading the charge for the Miners is head coach Justin Malano and first-year assistant Jim Slaughter.

The Miner team will be led this year by senior quarterback Matt Martinez (No. 11). Coach Malano wants every player to have a positive experience and to develop a winning attitude on and off the field.  A few Ws in the win column would be nice, too.

The Miners are members of the 1A Santa Fe League. Season opener for the Miners is against non-conference rival Raton Tigers in Raton on Friday, August 30 at 7 p.m. The Miners will attempt to return the coveted Coal Bucket to Trinidad. On Friday, September 13, the Miners travel to Texhoma, Oklahoma, and then play their first home game against Center on Saturday, September 21.

Senior citizens enjoy free admission to all Trinidad High School games.

Parent, athlete meeting will be held tonight at 6 p.m at Donnelly Gym
