Construction is nearly complete on the Primero Veterans Memorial Gymnasium, a project that was made possible after the passage of a $12 million bond measure by the voters of the Primero School District in 2016.
“We went to the community asking for the bond measure in order to upgrade our school district to meet the 21st century learning needs of our student body, and the community supported us by passing the bond,” said district superintendent Bill Naccarato. “In addition to the new gymnasium, we have also been able to make substantial safety and technology upgrades throughout our campus.
“The new gymnasium includes weight and workout rooms for the community and students/staff, new boys and girls locker rooms for both home teams and visitors, new audio/visual equipment, a new sound system, an H/Vac system for both air conditioning and heat, a quad area for presentations, multiple trophy cases, and a memorial wall to honor Primero school district veterans,” said Naccarato.
The construction of the Primero Veterans Memorial Gymnasium is just one of the many improvements made to the district’s campus due to the success of the 2016 bond measure.
“We have new plumbing and electrical work throughout the building,” said Naccarato, “as well as a new sprinkler system, T.V. screens in every classroom, resource areas and maker space areas for elementary and secondary, new furniture for secondary, a new preschool and kindergarten area, updated technology infrastructure, cameras for security, new parking and updated traffic control and many remodelled classrooms.”
“With our renovated campus, we are confident that our students will graduate ready to be productive citizens, thanks to the world-class education they can now receive here.”
Said Naccarato, “If anyone would like to come up and see the facilities, we welcome you to visit; check in with the office, and we will give you a tour.”
