In support of and in response to the emergency declarations of Governor Polis and Las Animas County, and the recent closure of the Las Animas Huerfano Counties District Health Department (“LAHDCHD”), the County of Las Animas is taking the following measures to limit COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in our community to ensure that public health resources and authority are aligned.

Las Animas County offices within County buildings will be closed to the public until further notice.

— County Buildings are minimally staffed with no public access to county offices.

— The public is asked to conduct business online, by email, or by phone.

— For business with the Clerk, Assessor, and Treasurer, information can be dropped off in the Clerk’s election ballot drop box at the Las Animas County Courthouse. This includes all motor vehicle renewals, liquor license renewals, document recording, voter registration/changes, treasurers’ payments, senior/veteran exemptions and business declarations, or any correspondence to county government. The drop box will be closely monitored, secured and under surveillance 24 hours.

— Department of Human Services will continue all essential functions but will conduct transactions online, by phone or USPS mail only.

— Non-essential County meetings and events are either canceled or will be virtual when possible. Noticed public meetings will be conducted but will change to a virtual format.

— Emergency services will continue.
