K9 Hobbs, TPD’s drug identifying pup, and his handler were in part responsible for Thursday’s drug raid on the 1400 block of North Linden in Trinidad.

Last Thursday, September 17, officers with the Trinidad Police Department (TPD) served a search warrant at a residence on the 1400 block of North Linden.

As a result, Derek Sandoval, Jennifer Shannon, Robert Shirek, and Laura Salazar were arrested on drug distribution and weapons related charges, among other charges.

“The search warrant was the result of traffic stops and several arrests made by officers in cooperation with K9 Hobbs and his handler the past few months,” stated a press release from TPD. “The arrest totals consisted of 32.2 grams of Heroin, 27.6 grams of Methamphetamine, 9.6 grams of Cocaine and weapons that were connected to the residence on Linden.”

Officers said the search was conducted without incident and they made contact with six individuals inside the home. Narcotics along with several illegal firearms were found in the residence.    

Derek Sandoval was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Jennifer Shannon was arrested for possession of a defaced firearm and keeping/maintaining property for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Robert Shirek was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a weapon by previous offender and two active warrants for his arrest.

Laura Salazar was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a weapon by previous offender.
