The Trinidad Police allege that on Wednesday, June 17 at around 3:14 a.m. an officer was flagged down by a male and female, with the male stating he had been shot with a firearm.

“A search warrant was conducted at the location of the incident with a firearm being recovered,” said Trinidad Police Department (TPD) Captain Dan DuRan. DuRan said though there was no arrest in the incident, there was no danger to public safety. Yet reasons for that assumption were not given.

Medical was called to the scene, according to a press release issued from TPD, and the male (still unidentified) was transported to the emergency room and was later transported to an unspecified hospital “up north,” said police.

The most recent update made by police on the male victim was “stable,” yet that condition cannot be confirmed.

The incident was reported to have happened in the area of Colorado and Arizona Avenues, but the specific location of the incident has not been shared with the public.

TPD did not respond to questions from The Chronicle-News requesting further clarification of the incident by press time.
