Trinidad Police Department responded to about 282 calls between Thursday, July 1 and Wednesday, July 7. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Department responded to about 152 calls during the same time period including burglary, drugs and “horses.”  TPD calls included multiple hit and runs, menacing, another prowler this week, three calls for fireworks on July 4 and elderly neglect.

Erika Anitra Vargas, 36, was charged with assault in the third degree and domestic violence for an incident TPD alleged happened Wednesday, June 30. She was transported to the Las Animas County Detention Center and given a no bond hold until her advisement on Thursday, July 1 at which time she issued a $3,500 cash or surety bond and she bonded out that day. She appeared late to a Wednesday, July 7 appearance on bond hearing so it was continued until Friday, July 9.
