Dear Editor,

For many years, if Conservative Christians weren’t known in the community as anything else, they were known as “pro-lifers.” Conservative Christians, Catholics and Protestants, have made it abundantly clear their religion tells them no abortions. Family values, the sanctity of life, and the health and welfare of families is what they stated consistently are their beliefs and policies.

I have heard not a single priest or preacher state that it is wrong to make a worker choose between potential death and their job. These conservative Christians are now saying it’s all right to make a worker choose between economic death and physical death. Trump, whom these same Christian’s support, wants to take away any legal rights of these workers to sue.

What has happened to the sanctity of life and family values? Do the conservative Christians now believe it is okay for the elderly and vulnerable to die as workers bring COVID-19 into their homes and our communities?

Has it really always been that these Christians only wanted poor women with unplanned pregnancies not to have abortions as it appears? Do these people only want to punish women?

This lack of speaking out to rebuke Trump and his policies as they destroy the sanctity of life proves the conservative Christian movement is just a bunch of hypocrites. I challenge all Christians to speak out now for sanctity of life, workers’ rights to a safe work place or forever lose any credibility that they care about human life.

If the preachers and priests do not let their voices be heard any talk of voting pro-life has been thrown out the window.
