Dear Editor,

I enjoy taking runs in the morning along the Purgatoire River trail. It is a nice trail for walkers, runners and bikers.

However, there is never a time that I go that I do not see trash littered on the trail. This is on the path not the river trail where there are many homeless camps. I am not talking about a little trash here and there — it is A LOT — trash bags full and scattered.

Once a Good Samaritan was there picking it up and filling his truck. He mentioned that when the city crews came by to mow they just rolled over the trash saying they did not have time to clean it up. I am asking why the mayor, city manager and council do not address this issue?

Keeping the trails clean and safe should be a priority for the residents of this community.
