The Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) Board of Directors has approved football alignment for the next two-year 2020-2021 cycle.
Said CHSAA, “This alignment has been worked on by members of the football committee for more than a year now, and the representatives on that committee have sought and incorporated feedback from member schools throughout it. The final step in the process was the board meeting this week, which included the potential for schools to appeal their proposed alignment.”
The criterion used to create the alignment includes: Enrollment numbers, competitive balance within each conference, geography, risk minimization, success / non-success, school participation percentage and regular season and post season implications.
Trinidad will play in the Class 1A Santa Fe league with schools such as Banning Lewis Preparatory, Ellicott, Peyton and Rocky Ford.
Hoehne, meanwhile, will play in the 8-Man Arkansas Valley league with Fowler, Holly, Crowley County, McClave, Springfield, Wiley and Las Animas.
In the 6-Man Class, Aguilar, Branson/Kim and Primero will all play in the South Central league against fellow schools Manzanola and the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind.
