Witness tampering conspiracy sees two men charged in case

Two men have been charged with witness tampering and conspiracy after they were caught attempting to influence employees of a local department store to not appear in court. David Scott Brown (32) was charged with bribing a witness or victim (a class four felony), conspiracy to bribe a witness or victim (a class five felony), tampering with a witness or victim (a class four felony) and conspiracy to tamper with a witness or victim (a class five felony).

Raton man accused of longtime stepchild abuse

New Mexico law enforcement has charged a Raton man accused of sexually abusing his step-granddaughter for years with six counts of sexual abuse. Larry Guara (61) faces six charges, including one count of criminal sexual penetration in the first degree (child under 13 years old), one count of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree (child aged between 13 and 18/ force or coercion), one count of criminal sexual contact / minor third degree (child under 13 years old / clothed) and three counts of criminal sexual contact / minor second degree (child under 13 years old / unclothed).

Colorado Geographic Naming Board invites public to submit name recommendations for 28 geographic features with derogatory names

The Colorado Geographic Naming Advisory Board (CGNAB) is seeking public input to consider recommendations to replace geographic features containing the term “squaw.” While the process is part of a nationwide federal process, the CGNAB is limiting its consideration to those locations within Colorado, and invites the public to submit recommendations.

Republicans file federal lawsuit to block unaffiliated voters from participating in Colorado’s June 28 primary election

A group of Colorado Republicans filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Secretary of State Jena Griswold seeking to prevent unaffiliated voters from participating in the June 28 primary election. The lead attorney on the lawsuit is John Eastman, the conservative, controversial former visiting scholar at the University of Colorado who, while employed by CU, also authored memos on the ways former President Donald Trump could overturn the results of the 2020 election.
