Elizabeth J. Massarotti, age 90, passed away on March 14, 2022 at Mount St. Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs, CO with loving and caring nursing center staff by her side. The third oldest of five children, Elizabeth was born in Sopris Plaza, CO on March 31, 1931 to Joe B and Frances (Cimino) Antista.
Mother Nature continues to wreak havoc on the spring sports schedules, with more track meets and baseball games canceled last week. However, a number of contests were able to go on as scheduled, even if conditions were less than ideal.
The Trinidad & Las Animas County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony for one of its newest members, Code of the West Real Estate, in its first ribbon cutting of the year. Around 20 people gathered at the Code of the West office at 431 University Street, Trinidad on Friday, March 18 for the ribbon cutting and a short reception afterwards. It’s official. After weeks of discussion at Trinidad City Council meetings and behind the scenes work by city staff, council has approved an ordinance allowing up to $1 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds to be expended on COVID-19 premium pay for city staff.
Dolores Medina, 95 of Trinidad, Colorado passed away March 11, 2022, peacefully at home surrounded by family. Visitation on Tuesday, March 22nd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home.
