Trinidad High School has two students headed to San Diego, California, to the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America National Conference this summer. THS students Shadee Hosseninzadeh and Felicity Culbertson will be headed to California this summer to represent the State of Colorado after both placed in the top two during the 2022 Colorado FCCLA State Conference in mid-April.

Colorado Preservation Inc., a Colorado nonprofit that seeks to advocate for historic preservation, said that it plans to use recent grant funding to create a documentary about the Granada War Relocation Center — also known as Camp Amache.

The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office is reminding drivers to obey school zone traffic regulations after issuing “several” citations earlier this month. The office said in a Facebook post that it would like to remind drivers to slow down and to never pass a school bus when it has its lights activated.

The Colorado Department of Natural Resources placed Parks and Wildlife Director Dan Prenzlow on paid leave after a Black employee sent an open letter to Gov. Jared Polis complaining of racism against her and others at a Vail outdoors conference.

Trinidad’s employees will see an update to their family and medical leave insurance program if Trinidad City Council votes to have the city opt-in to a state-run program approved by Colorado voters.
