Trinidad Carnegie Library’s Art Wall hosts watercolor artist Marcia Hook

The Trinidad Carnegie Public Library’s featured artist for the month of April is Trinidad resident Marcia Hook. Hook has a lifelong love of art, having begun her artistic endeavors in early childhood, attending the Art Institute of Chicago in high school and earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Indiana University with additional studies at the Art Institute of Chicago and Valparaiso University.

Colorado’s AG wades into murky river dispute that could upend access to state’s rivers, streams

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser wants the Colorado Supreme Court to wade into a murky river-access fight. Weiser this week filed a lengthy brief asking the state’s high court to intervene before a lower court takes up a case involving a fisherman who says he has a right to wade on a stretch of the Arkansas River and a landowner who says the riverbed is private property.

Our precious mother , Evangeline “ Vangie” T. Garcia, left this earthly realm Thursday, April 14, 2022, after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 28, 1929, in Segundo, Colorado, to Victor and Eutemia Alarid.

Mario Amidei

On April 16, Mario Amidei, surrounded by his loving and immediate family, entered eternal life. He was born on July 2nd, 1932, to Mike and Eufemia Amidei in Tioga, Colorado. As a young man, Mario enlisted in the navy during the Korean War. In 1962 he was united in marriage to Rosalie De Bono, the love of his life and the daughter of Frank and Carmela De Bono of Trinidad. They were blessed with two daughters Judene and Darlene. A very hard worker his entire adult life he worked at the Pueblo Steel Mill and later operated a Phillips 66 gasoline station north of Walsenburg for 24 years. His next career undertaking was Marioʼs Trash Service, which he operated for 15 years. Upon retiring from this business, for 20 year she then maintained the grounds and duties at the Catholic cemetery. Very devoted Catholics, he and his wife are lifelong members of St. Maryʼs Catholic Church.

Elizabeth DeCarolis, 97, was blessed to enter her eternal home on April 15, 2022 in Pueblo, CO where she had made her home for the past 14 years. She was born to Nick and Mary (Sincovich) Ratkovich in Aguilar Colorado on April 6, 1925.

Charles “Chuck” Anthony Mason, of Trinidad, CO, gained his wings and fought his last battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on April 15, 2022. On April 13, 1965, Chuck was born to Charles “Howey” and Marlene Mason in Denver, CO.
