The Trinidad Triggers were highly represented during the 2022 Pecos League Mountain Division All-Star game Sunday, July 10 — sending 10 players to the game — the highest number of players from any Mountain Division team this year.
According to the most recent U.S. Drought Monitor report, extreme drought conditions have receded from much of Las Animas County, leaving the western side of the county in moderate drought conditions and the eastern side in severe drought.

A Trinidadian is joining the ranks of former presidents and national leaders — by accepting an invitation into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars — the nation’s “leading” certified honor society for “high achieving first and second year college students,” the society said in a release.
Alberta Christine (Dahl) Barger age 93 passed away on June 7, 2022. Alberta was born in Sopris, CO on December 15, 1928. She was the youngest of four siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Joanna Dahl, brother Hebert (Rosemary) Dahl, sister Irene (Howard) Redd, sister Thelma (Harry) Groves, and husband Clarence Graham Barger. She is survived by her son Wayne (Karen) Barger and son Richard Barger (David Eichholtz), grandson Chris Barger, grandson Matthew (Trish) Barger, great grandsons Brady and Emmett Barger, five nieces and nephews and their children.
Julian Vigil, 46, of Trinidad passed away June 28, 2022. He was born November 22, 1976, to the late Domingo (Pee Wee) Vigil and Survived by His Loving Mother Phyllis (Scott) Shinkle.
John Pitts (Big John, DJ) born March 7, 1948, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022, at the age of 74. John grew up in Denver, CO, but called Trinidad home for the last 35 years. John graduated from South High School in Denver in 1967 and was drafted to the Vietnam war in August 1968. He served until 1970 and after the war he worked as a carpenter, truck driver for Budweiser, Las Animas sheriff and overall was a jack of all trades.
DEAR ABBY: I am married to a man from a different country, culture and religion. We have an amazing relationship, and he is my best friend. We do everything together -- grocery shop, date nights, travel, etc. He is a wonderful husband. The only problem is he doesn’t contribute financially. I have told him time and again that this is going to be a big problem for us.
