Trinidad man accepts lifetime membership into elite national society of scholars group

A Trinidadian is joining the ranks of former presidents and national leaders — by accepting an invitation into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars — the nation’s “leading” certified honor society for “high achieving first and second year college students,” the society said in a release.

Alberta Christine Barger

Alberta Christine (Dahl) Barger age 93 passed away on June 7, 2022. Alberta was born in Sopris, CO on December 15, 1928. She was the youngest of four siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Joanna Dahl, brother Hebert (Rosemary) Dahl, sister Irene (Howard) Redd, sister Thelma (Harry) Groves, and husband Clarence Graham Barger. She is survived by her son Wayne (Karen) Barger and son Richard Barger (David Eichholtz), grandson Chris Barger, grandson Matthew (Trish) Barger, great grandsons Brady and Emmett Barger, five nieces and nephews and their children.

John Pitts

John Pitts (Big John, DJ) born March 7, 1948, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022, at the age of 74. John grew up in Denver, CO, but called Trinidad home for the last 35 years. John graduated from South High School in Denver in 1967 and was drafted to the Vietnam war in August 1968. He served until 1970 and after the war he worked as a carpenter, truck driver for Budweiser, Las Animas sheriff and overall was a jack of all trades.
