The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office is expanding its family, with the addition of a search dog. The sheriff’s office acquired the dog after running a donation campaign to fund the purchase.

DENVER — The Secretary of State’s Office will adopt new rules following a May 24 public rulemaking hearing conducted with in-person and virtual attendance. The rules are necessary to implement House Bills 21-1011 (multilingual ballot access for voters) and 21-1071 (ranked choice voting in nonpartisan elections); a reorganization and re-adoption of current election security rules; and permanent adoption of voting system security rules that were temporarily adopted on February 10, 2022.

The First National Bank in Trinidad is holding its 22nd annual “School Support Drive.” Many students start school without the necessary supplies to participate in class. There are 11 schools in Las Animas County that will receive support, and the need this year is greater than ever, according to the bank.
