Heinrich, Wicker, Lee lead call for increased access to osteopathic medical research that benefits rural, underserved communities

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) and U.S. Representative Susie Lee (D-Nev.) led a bipartisan, bicameral group of 23 lawmakers in a letter urging Acting National Institute of Health (NIH) Director Dr. Lawrence A. Tabak to expand funding opportunities for research in osteopathic medicine.

Lorraine Josephine Morris

Lorraine Josephine (Cass) Morris was born at home in Trinidad, Colorado on December 30, 1937 to Clara (Concetta) DiCaro Cass and Devere Cass. She was born nine minutes before her twin brother Loren and proceeded to call herself the ”big sister” for the rest of her life. This became a true family joke over the years as Lorraine became a jockey and Loren (Bo) outgrew this profession by age 12.

Bi-county region sees COVID cases rise, Huerfano hit harder than LA County

Las Animas and Huerfano counties are continuing to see an increase in cases of COVID-19, according to the most recent data from the district health department. Las Animas County saw a 35% increase in reported cases between July 12 and July 19, according to an analysis of data provided by the Las Animas-Huerfano Counties District Health Department.

Thomas James Augustine, 88, passed away on July 14, 2022 at his home in Rapid City, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23rd at 3:00 p.m., at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City, SD, with Visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, SD with military honors, on Wednesday, July 27th at 9:00 a.m.
