Julia Santillanes

Julia Santillanes passed away peacefully at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home at the age of 94, on August 16, 2022. She was a lifelong Trinidad resident and was well loved in the community. Julia was born on April 12, 1928 to Juan D. and Sarita Santistevan in Valdez, CO. She grew up surrounded by loving siblings that included brothers Fred, Jose S., William, and Martin, and sisters Isabel and Delia. She was united in marriage to Raymond Santillanes on December 5, 1946, and they were blessed with five children.

Donna J Broughton, age 85, passed away at the Trinidad Inn Nursing Home on August 11, 2022. Funeral Memorial Services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 10 AM at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel. Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology DENVER — The State of Colorado’s official mobile application, myColorado, launched the new Affinity Icon for its Colorado Digital ID. Now Coloradans have the option to personalize the back of their digital drivers’ licenses with one of 16 icons representing a preference, hobby or interest.

History Colorado appointed to lead research into history of Native American boarding schools in Colorado

History Colorado DENVER — The Native American Boarding School Research Program Act, HB22-1327, was signed into law by Governor Jared Polis on May 24, 2022, and directs History Colorado to investigate the lived experiences of students at the onetime federal Indian boarding school in Hesperus, Colo., as well as identify potential burial places of students who perished while attending the school. The site of the former school and potential burial places is owned today by Fort Lewis College.
