A fourth person has drowned in northern New Mexico following flash flooding across burn scars left by the Calf Canyon fire. A local rancher, near Mora, reported the latest death after he said a torrent of water carried the man’s pickup off New Mexico Highway 434 at about 2 p.m.

The mine has struggled within the last year to retain skilled workers, primarily importing them from the eastern coal country, due to a lack of adequate accommodations and COVID- 19 protocols.
