DENVER — For the fourth consecutive year, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is encouraging hunters to take a friend hunting. As a reward for hunters sharing their expertise and love of hunting, CPW created a contest for mentors who take the time to pass on their knowledge, with prizes for the mentor as well as the mentee.

CPW releases gray wolf reintroduction planning update for August

DENVER — Colorado Parks and Wildlife is providing an update and clarifying the continuing process of developing a Colorado Gray Wolf Restoration and Management Plan per state law. The CPW-led planning process has been approved by the Parks and Wildlife Commission, which is the sole body responsible for creating and approving the plan as directed by the statute.

Meteors of August: Two great showers

Two great meteor showers occur every year in August, the Capricornids and the Perseids. Each shower is named for the constellation from which the meteors appear to originate, the so-called “radiant.” This stems from the fact that the Earth orbits around the sun every year and so runs through swarms of particles left in space by previous comets, much like a car driving through swarms of insects on a highway.

City sets Aug. hearings to allow ballot measures to be added to upcoming election

The City of Trinidad has proposed two ballot measures for the 2022 General Election, but before they make it to the ballot, the city must first receive resident approval. Trinidad City Council voted 7-0 Tuesday to set two public hearings for the passage of two ordinances allowing the city to add the measures to the ballot.
