Local DAR helps Fisher’s Peak Elementary 4th grade classrooms celebrate Constitution Week

From September 17-23, members of the Santa Fe Trail Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution joined with Fisher’s Peak Elementary fourth grade classrooms to commemorate the signing of the United States Constitution — ringing a bell to help celebrate Constitution Week. To promote recognition of this momentous event, 73 copies of the children’s book, “Why America Matters,” along with an American Flag, a replica of America’s Liberty Bell and a history of Bells Across America were distributed to two classrooms. Each book was inscribed with the following verse: “Where can we find heroes today?

Colorado’s community college enrollment increases slightly, but hasn’t bounced back fully

For the first time since the start of the pandemic, enrollment at the majority of Colorado community colleges increased slightly from the previous year. But that increase is driven largely by high school students taking courses for college credit, while enrollment for working-age adults remains well below pre-pandemic levels.

Mary Rose Martorano, age 88, died Sept. 24, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. A complete obituary will follow. The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.
