Chronicle-News seeks reader input on 2022 General Election coverage

In an effort to bring the most relevant news to its readers during the 2022 General Election, The Chronicle-News is seeking reader submitted questions to guide its coverage of state and local races. The adjustment in its election coverage comes after The Chronicle-News received information from the Harkin Institute that community-engagement journalism can bring more community “ownership” over the paper and increases trust between reporters and readers.

CDPHE opens appointments for second doses of monkeypox vaccine

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is making multiple updates to its monkeypox vaccination response using the federally supplied Jynneos vaccine, including opening appointments for second doses, expanding eligibility criteria, and transitioning to an automated system for appointment scheduling. CDPHE is now administering second doses to all people who received a first dose at least 28 days ago.

Pat the beef dry with a paper towel.

County drops some $161K for repaving at Perry Stokes Airport east of Trinidad

Las Animas County recently conducted paving operations at the county-owned Perry Stokes Airport east of Trinidad, which is expected to reduce damage to aircraft. The project, completed by Las Animas County crews and Walsenburg Sand and Gravel, included placing asphalt pavement adjacent to the airplane hangars and taxiway.

Mary Rose Martorano

Mary Rose Martorano, age 88, died Sept. 24, 2022. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. A complete obituary will follow. The family has entrusted Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Restaurant group reports: ‘No business as usual’ as industry still struggles in New Mexico

The easing of the COVID-19 pandemic over the last two years has not erased the damage to New Mexico restaurants, an industry group told The Center Square. New Mexico Restaurant Association CEO Carol Wight said the state’s restaurant industry is still dealing with what she called a “three-headed monster.” “I wish I could say that we’re so much better off than we were a few years ago,” Wight told The Center Square.
