Tarantula mating season underway in SE Colorado — annual arachnid ‘migration,’ quite a sight to behold

Tarantula mating season is underway in southeast Colorado and there are just a couple weeks to try and find male tarantulas out looking for mates. The phenomenon is mistakenly called the “tarantula migration,” but is less a migration and more of an eight-legged dating search for male tarantulas eight to 10 years old.

Trinidad declines joining state family leave program on behalf of employees

Trinidad will not be joining the state-run family leave program created in 2021 through Proposition 118 after Trinidad City Council voted to opt-out of full participation of the program. Trinidad City Council voted 7-0 to decline full participation in the program after hearing that city employees did not express interest.

Texas man to stand jury trial for role in 2021 Angel Fire shooting that left one man dead

A jury trial has been set for a Texas man accused of a 2021 shooting in Angel Fire, New Mexico, that led to the death of another Texas man. Kenneth Ray Starnes (61), of Waxahatchie, Texas, is accused of the December 2021 murder of Ernest Everett Starnes III and the shooting of Jennifer Buckhannon, both of Red Oaks, Texas, according to Taos News.
