First year Primero wrestling program competes at CHSAA championship at Ball Arena

The Primero Bulldogs sent three wrestlers to the 2023 Colorado High School Activities Association State Wrestling Championship this month, the first time in the program’s history. Primero sophomores Aedin Borja and Kevin Acuna, and freshman Kyler Spleen all competed during the tourney at Ball Arena in downtown Denver Feb.

City amends animal ords., increases penalty for vicious dogs, amends scope for prosecution

Penalties for improper animal ownership have increased within the City of Trinidad, tightening up regulations on at-large dogs and vicious dogs. The ordinance amendments, which received unanimous approval from Trinidad City Council, increase the fines for having a “vicious dog” and add responsibility to more people for at-large dogs.

In a new study, several researchers at CU Boulder reenacted a small part of a trek that people in what is today the Southwest United States may have made more than 1,000 years ago. Rodger Kram, associate professor emeritus of integrative physiology, and James Wilson, then an undergraduate studying biochemistry, spent the summer of 2020 training for an impressive test of endurance: Together, they carried a ponderosa pine log weighing more than 130 pounds for 15 miles up and down a forest road in Boulder County, Colorado—and they did it using only their heads in a technique inspired, in part, by sherpas in Nepal.
