GOAL High School students and staff had quite the adventure recently, taking an overnight field trip to Colorado’s capitol where they had the chance to learn about the legislative and judicial processes through interactions with the state’s leaders.

The Colfax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a Raton man found deceased in late-February. The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator identified the deceased, who had been found west of Raton by an unidentified party Monday, Feb.

Allegiance Coal Ltd., the parent company of New Elk Coal Company in Weston, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to court record filed in the District of Delaware. The publicly traded company, which bought NECC in 2020 to revitalize the coking coal mine, filed the voluntary petition in late-February.
