Lower unemployment, inflation gives Colorado favorable economic, budget forecast

Colorado’s state economists gave favorable reports on employment and inflation but expressed concern about the risk of recession during last Thursday’s Joint Budget Committee hearing. Greg Sobetski, chief economist of the nonpartisan Colorado Legislative Council, provided a wide range of data during his committee testimony and explained how tax revenue is influenced in various ways.

Initial Mary John Goree Scholarship winners announced final class in May

The Mary John Goree Las Animas County Scholarship Foundation, which awards funding to students seeking higher education, announced its initial winners of the 2022-2023 Mary John Goree Las Animas County Scholarship. Landon Knight (Goal High School), Sun Richardson (Goal High School) and Ava Warner (Fountain Valley School) were all named as initial winners of the scholarship.
