Miners baseball sees double-double in wins and losses last weekend

Big bats and aggressive base running helped the young Trinidad Miners on the diamond last weekend as they beat Custer County (3-4) (2-2) at Central Park in Trinidad Friday, April 7, sweeping a Class 2AA Southern Peaks League double header by scores of 16-3 and 24-14. But on Saturday, April 8, Trinidad High School lost to No. 9 ranked Del Norte (6-0)(6-0) on the road 9-5 and 15-12.

Primero track athletes set new personal records at Ray Headley Invitational

Primero High saw its five track athletes set new personal bests at an early-April meet in Otero County during the Ray Headley Invitational Track meet. The meet, held in Swink Friday, April 7, saw appearances from John Mall High School, Pueblo County, Sanford, Hanover, Holly, Aguilar, Rocky Ford, Las Animas, South Baca and Fowler, among other schools.

Crime report for April 6 — April 12: Incidents include at-large dogs, vehicle accidents, menacing, lost gun

The Trinidad Police Department responded to or initiated some 280 calls for service between Thursday, April 6, and Wednesday, April 12, including a lost gun, menacing, vehicle accidents and harassment. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office saw some 157 incidents during the same time, including fraud, burglary, a vehicle accident and fires.
