MARGARETTE BROWN MOZINGO

Margrette Brown Mozingo died Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Monument Colorado. Her husband of 70 years, Carl, was by her side every day loving and supporting her through hospice care. Margrette was born December 31, 1936 in Newton, Texas to Dennis Otis Brown and Ruth Medley Brown. She grew up and attended high school in southeast Texas. Margrette married Carl T. Mozingo, Jr. in 1953 and together they raised four children in Bridge City, Texas. While they both worked, Carl at the refineries and Margrette at home and later at a local jewelry store, they were entrepreneurs at an early age, through their Amway business. Carl and Margrette purchased the Picketwire Lodge & Store and moved to Stonewall Colorado in 1976 to run their own business and shared many adventures over the years until they fully retired in the late 90s. They settled in the Country Club in Stonewall Colorado and enjoyed life watching people pass by on the Scenic Highway of Legends. Stonewall was an ideal place for them as Margrette loved being in nature. As a young wife and mother, she spent many weeks happily camping with her family. Photography was a passion and she took untold numbers of photographs of flowers, deer, bears and birds. She was an avid birdwatcher and could identify many birds native to Colorado and Texas. Preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son Jon Eric Mozingo, and daughter-in-law Ofelia Mozingo, Margrette is survived by her husband Carl; sons Carl, Michael (Laurie), and Stephen and daughter-in law Michele; along with grandchildren Stephen, Aaron, Michael, Chloe, Emily, Rheo, Ivy, Aiza, Hazel, Harold and eight great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mullare-Muphy Funeral Home, 335 E. Main Street, Trinidad, Colorado May 21, 2023, at 11:30 AM.
