Colorado to continue prosecuting kids as young as 10 after plan to raise age fails on legislature’s last day

Colorado will continue to prosecute kids as young as 10 years old after a plan to raise the age to 13 failed for the second year in a row at the state Capitol. The proposal — opposed by police officers, district attorneys and state child welfare officials — made it through the House after an emotional debate but stalled in the Senate after about 10 hours of battle over multiple days.

CPW euthanizes bear that repeatedly entered home — homeowner cited for feeding big game

COLORADO SPRINGS — A bear estimated at 225-250 pounds that three times entered a Colorado Springs home and returned repeatedly to the scene during the past week was trapped Friday night by Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers and humanely euthanized as required by state policy on dangerous bears. Last Sunday, the bear walked through an open door into a mud room of a home in the Broadmoor neighborhood, a wooded area known to be prime bear habitat in the southwest foothills of Colorado Springs.
