Civic leaders, contractors cut First Street ribbon to celebrate completion of project

On August 9, the City of Trinidad and Mayor Karen Griego, along with other elected officials, City employees involved in the project, the contractor RMS Utilities, Inc., their crew, and the subcontractor Jim Duran Brick Contractor and his crew, celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of the First Street Project.The City initially announced the reconstruction of the road, The First Street Project, back in the spring of 2023, which included various streets, 1st Street, Maple, and Chestnut Streets, for removal and replacement of subsurface utilities, water, gas sanitary and storm sewers and the burial of the existing overhead power and communication lines, the removal and placement of the brick street section,  new curb and gutter, new sidewalk along with the installation of new curb ramps making the corridor ADA compliant and new street lighting along the streets.
