On Apr. 1, during the Las Animas County Board of County Commissioners’s regular meeting at the courthouse, commissioner Felix Lopez shared information he gathered from a meeting he attended on Mar. 25 on the progress and next steps for assisting jails, where he learned of the increased presence of a deadly opioid.
On Mar. 24, officers of the Trinidad Police Department made two arrests, both involving alleged special offenders under suspicion of possession and distribution (or intent) of controlled substances. Authorities slammed the two with over seven charges.
The Chronicle-News reported at the end of 2024 that the upcoming Hollywood movie, “Vengeance,” was set to film in Mar. 2025. However, the production has since been pushed to begin filming in Aug. or Sept. 2025, according to At the Kitchen Table CEO Jaqueline Fleming.
For the first time, on May 10, at the Central Park Baseball Field, kids of Las Animas County will have an opportunity to join a youth athletics camp to learn or hone their baseball skills with the county’s first responders and coaches.
