City of Trinidad mulls over how to sell to voters ballot measure making 1% CIP tax permanent  

With the upcoming November election cycle approaching, featuring three city council seats and a mayoral seat open, on July 7, the Trinidad City Council discussed, during a work session, how it could sell the idea to voters of potentially making the Capital Improvement Fund, or CIP tax, permanent through a ballot initiative.

Trinidad man has upcoming plea hearing following incident of alleged assault, spitting at deputies, headbutting brick house  

Gabriel Acuna, 43, has an upcoming plea hearing on July 9, following an incident when Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to what they called “a fight in progress” on W Indiana Ave., in Trinidad back on Tuesday, June 17, which resulted in a slight bout between authorities and the suspect, who they reported had spit at them and slammed his own head into a brick house.
