Roberta Louise Ferrero, age 92 was called to heaven on May 29, 2022 at MCMC Hospital in Raton.

Roberta was born in Oak Park, IL on August 7, 1929. She was the oldest of the three siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominick and Emma Rose ( Zanotelli) Ferrero, brother Thomas Ferrero, and brother in-law Raymond Evans. She is survived by her sister Eleanore Evans, several nephews and nieces and numerous cousins.

She attended Spaulding Children’s Crippled School in Chicago through seventh grade.

In 1942 the family moved to Sopris, CO, where she attended Lincoln High School.

After our mother’s tragic death, Roberta was an immaculate housekeeper for all of us. In Spite of her disability, she worked many years with Dad on the Bunker Hill Ranch, 5 miles north of Aguilar. Her dearest friend and next door neighbor in Sopris was Mary Dona. Roberta frequently joined the Dona family activities.

During the process of moving out of Sopris, Dad passed away, Roberta was welcomed into the home of her sister and brother in-law Eleanor and Raymond Evans and became a longtime Raton resident. Annual family vacations were one of her greatest joys and allowed her to see new places.

Despite her disability and difficulties, Roberta always had a smile and a hug to share and never complained. We lost our angel an d Heaven gained her.

Rosary will be led by the Legion of Mary beginning at 11:00 am followed by mass at 11: 30 celebrated by Father Woytavich on Wednesday June 8th at St Patrick’s St Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Mount Calvary catholic cemetery. Pallbearers are nephews Chris Angeli, J.B. Evans, John Taft and Bill Taft. The family has entrusted arrangements to Alderette Funeral Home.
