Edward (Eddie) Eugene Shannon – Edward Shannon, 78, Died December 8th, 2022, at Sangre De Cristo Hospice in Pueblo Co. The son of Napoleon Shannon and Andreita (Torres) Shannon, he was born and raised in the family home, in Boncarbo Co. where he also finished out his life.
Eddie practiced his entire education in Trinidad Co. He also served with the U.S. Army National Guard from 1972 to 1979, discharging as a corporal. The son of a coal miner, he too spent most of his life working as a coal miner in Weston Co. where he retired after 25 years. Eddie also worked the family ranch from childhood, well into his later years. He was a proud father of four girls, and in December, celebrated 55 years of marriage with the love of his life, Judith.
Eddie enjoyed being a cowboy and a rancher. He loved horses and working with them. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting with his friends and grandsons. Most of all Eddie enjoyed spending time with loved ones just being a friend, a dad, and a grandpa. Eddie was great at being all of those. A more than loyal friend. A more than loving husband. A more than giving father. A more than devoted brother, uncle, cousin, grandpa, and great grandpa. A great man. Family and friends were Eddieʼs true passion.
In addition to his parents, he was pre deceased by his two older brothers Richard (Pueblo Co.) and Johnny (Boncarbo Co.). As well as two older sisters Mary Jane Shupe (Weston Co.) and Mary Anne Abeyta (Pueblo Co.).
Surviving in addition to his wife, Judith Shannon, are his four daughters Judi Martin, Andrea Bergman, Allyson Shannon, and Jennifer Shannon. As well as grand children Kendrea Garcia, Kraig Garcia, Mickenna Dasko, Christian Fausone, Jordan Fausone, Kassaundra Garcia, Daniel Martin, Mariah Griffith, Emily Shannon, Kora Griffith, Emma Bergman, six Great Grandchildren and too many nieces and nephews to list.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 19th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 135 Church st. Trinidad Co. 81082. Immediately following the services will be a dinner reception at the El Rancho until 7:00 p.m.
