December 1, 1929 – January 20, 2023 Kathryn was born on December 1, 1929 in Trinidad, Colorado. She passed away on January 20, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Trinidad, Colorado. She was 93 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Zora (Padjen) Milosevich, husband, Frank James Masero, brothers Nicholas, Charles and Matt Milosevich, sister Donna (MIiosevich) Marshall and grandson Darcy Enos Washington.
Kathryn was the 6th of eight children born to Matt and Zora. She was raised on a farm on the outskirts of town. One of her favorite chores was to watch and follow the cows as they grazed the surrounding hills. She found it peaceful and preferable to some of the other chores and spoke fondly of those memories. She graduated from Trinidad High School in 1947. One of her first jobs during high school and immediately after was at Riverside Drug Store. Kathryn married Frank Masero on December 14, 1947. They moved from Trinidad, Colorado to Los Angeles, California in 1950. They moved to Fullerton, California in 1955 where she remained until she returned to Trinidad, Colorado in 1972 to become a caretaker for her elderly parents.
Her early years in California included owning a dry cleaning shop, various sales positions and later she became a ward clerk at St. Jude Hospital. The majority of her time and focus was spent on being a wife, mother and homemaker. After the passing of her parents, she went to work for the Head Start program in Trinidad. Kathryn always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She began studying with the Jehovah Witnesses in 1989 and was baptized.
Kathryn is survived by her sister, Lola (Milosevich) Sanford of Downey, California, brother Vincent and wife Sylvia Milosevich of Chico California, brother Paul and wife Patsy Milosevich of Santa Fe New Mexico; her daughters, Paulette and husband John Skalko of Trinidad, Colorado, Karen Masero of Trinidad Colorado.Teresa and husband Farouk Abushaban of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She Is also survived by grandchildren Gabe Rios, Adam Malik and wife Joanne, Johnna Malik, Sara Rivera and husband Robert, Bradley Baca and wife Shalaina, Michael Valentine-Masero, Vincent Abushaban, Zachary Abushaban and Imani Masero; great grandchildren Alex and wife Miriam, Maricella, Alyssa, Marianna, Marisol, Dominic, Luca, Isabella, Alec, Jax and Jaylon; great great grandchildren, Arielle, Aubrianna, Aiden, Riley and Matteo as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Bradley Baca, Vincent Abushaban, Zachary Abushaban, Gabe Rios, Robert Rivera and Carl Skalko.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Comi Funeral Home in Trinidad, Colorado. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 24th from 3:00PM-6:00PM at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25th at 1 :00 PM at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel. Interment immediately following at Masonic Cemetery Kathryn was well loved and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She will be remembered for her wit, sense of humor and kindness.
