Augustine Abeyta

In Memory of Augustine Abeyta who passed away 52 years ago on May 23,1970.

These three words were my Dadʼs favorite entry into morning. It was the opposite of: “Letʼs hit the hay” at night!

On Dadʼs 52nd Memorial Anniversary These words are inspiring what could simply be said to honor Dad today.

Everything Dad did and taught us had so much to aliterate and place value to “Rise and Shine.”

It meant “Opportunity.” The promise of daybreak became a promise of potential for us as a family to excel in learning and to gain experience to be better, to be good life participants… To Rise!! To Shine!!

This daily mantra connected us with spiritual “Faith, Hope, and Charity. And we knew Mom, Anna, Dadʼs life partner, shared the same perspective.

In Dadʼs classroom “Mr. Abeyta” set the bar high for every student to Rise to the occasion of new discovery. And if you did; your growth would Shine. And you would be bright like the Sun.
