Primero students of the month for April 2023

Each month, Primero’s teachers, administration and staff select students from the various grade levels to recognize as Students of the Month. Primero’s Students of the Month are selected based on outstanding attendance, stellar grades and diligent work ethic. These students serve as role models for the student body and shine as examples of good character within the community.

COVID relief funds for Colorado schools run out next year, but many pandemic challenges show no signs of waning

Staff shortages and mental health struggles among students and teachers continue to ripple across Colorado schools three years into the pandemic With less than a year-anda- half until school districts must spend all their federal COVID-19 relief dollars, district leaders are confronting an increasingly urgent question: How will they continue supporting student and teacher mental health, recruit and retain school staff and address other needs intensified by the pandemic without more sustainable funding? They’re scrambling to answer that question as many districts grapple with escalating mental health struggles and worsening teacher shortages — concerns that have become chronic since the pandemic began. “In order to really make improvements around the conditions that have been outlined here, we need sustainable funding,” said Tracie Rainey, executive director of the Colorado School Finance Project.

THS students strive to build Miner Pride with redevelopment of library as ‘student space’

Trinidad High School students are on the search for additional nuggets of Miner Pride and are working to add their touch to the architectural history of their school. Students involved with the school’s student leadership council are working to redevelop the THS Library and Student Center to bring a modern touch to the aging space.
