Financial report reveals Trinidad’s second quarter funds have net positive, despite being under budget for most funds

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, City Manager Tara Marshall announced the city’s financial report for this year’s second quarter, during the city’s regular meeting, revealing that although revenues were under budget for many of the city’s fund accounts, expenses were also under expended, which resulted in a net positive for many of the funds, with some exceptions.

International award-winning poet speaks on Trinidad’s literary festival  

Last weekend, from Sept. 19 to 20, Create Trinidad hosted its 2025 “Get Lit” literary festival, featuring many prominent authors from various locations. One of the headline writers and workshop hosts, award-winning poet Juan Morales, shared his thoughts on Trinidad becoming a hub for the regional writing community and the favorable impact of the arts.

Trinidad Safeway part of ‘future investment,’ as other stores set to close in La Junta, Lamar, more  

As 10 Safeway locations across the state are set to hit the chopping block and close by Nov. 7, Heather Halpape, director of communications for Albertsons Companies, Inc. (Safeway falling under the corporate umbrella), confirmed to The Chronicle-News that the Trinidad location would be part of its “strategic consolidation” and “customer-focused innovation.”
