From strength to success: Jaz’s journey continues to inspire

Since overcoming the dark moments of isolation, poor grades and bullying during her middle school years, Jazlyn “Jaz” Grandomcar became an academic rockstar for Destinations Career Academy, transforming into an honor roll student, a SkillsUSA chapter president, state officer parliamentarian for Colorado, attended the Washington Leadership Training Institute in Washington D.C, do volunteer work and much more.

Unhoused systems coordinator stuns Trinidad city council with local homeless population data, unemployment ranking, substance overdose fatality rankings 

The county’s unhoused systems coordinator, Chelsea Meece, took to City Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 18, to provide the Trinidad City Council an update on the homeless population after she and 11 volunteers conducted a Point in Time (a snapshot of homelessness on a given night in January) and a by-name list of individuals experiencing homelessness within the area.

Collaboration between Mission of the Way, Church of Christ brings much needed warming center in Trinidad as temperatures reach freezing

After the National Weather Service Pueblo issued a winter weather advisory last week, most prominently on Jan. 9, which included Las Animas County, with temperatures as low as 6 degrees Fahrenheit with winds around 45 mph, Mission of the Way and the Church of Christ collaborated to open a warming shelter to help those needing sanctuary from the freezing temperatures.
